The air smelled of salt and seaweed as I stepped into the cool Pacific waves, the fading summer sun painting the sky in deep purples, golds, and fiery oranges. Haystack Rock loomed before me, rising like a fortress from the water, bathed in the last light of day. The tide crept in quickly, swirling around my ankles as I planted my tripod into the wet sand. The sound of the waves—a soothing roar—mingled with the sharp cry of gulls circling overhead.
Long exposure photography in this moment was a dance with time. Each second was precious, the light shifting with every passing breath. I adjusted my focus, bracing myself as the water pushed harder, my legs sinking deeper into the sand. My fingers were cold, trembling slightly, but I held steady.
