There’s something sacred about the end of the day.

The noise settles. The shadows stretch long. And the heavens, lit with fire and mercy, lay their final brushstrokes across the mountains.

I captured this moment just as the sun tucked behind the Grand Tetons — the peaks glowing with that final breath of warmth before the stillness of night. What moved me most wasn’t just the color, but the quiet. The way the mountains stood unshaken while the light slipped away, as if they were the keepers of something eternal.

I named this piece “Last Light on Holy Ground” because the whole scene felt like a benediction — a whispered blessing from creation back to its Creator.

May it remind you that even as light fades, His peace lingers. His majesty remains.

And the end of the day? It’s not the end. It’s the beginning of rest.

Have you ever chased a dream across frozen lands, fearing it might slip through your fingers like sand in the wind?

Standing at the Snake River Overlook in Grand Teton National Park, my breath a frosty cloud in the frigid air, I longed to capture the majesty of this captivating place.

Wrapped up against the bite of subzero winds, I trekked through a silent world, where the sounds were the crunch of the snow under my boots and the whispering pines.  Each breath I drew was a sharp taste of icy purity, the cold air stinging my lungs.  The smell of damp earth mingled with the crisp scent of the coming night.

As I set up my tripod, the cold bit at my fingers stubbornly adjusting the camera for the perfect long exposure shot.  My camera, my loyal companion, was as challenged as I was, struggling in the subzero whispers that threatened to steal the warmth from it’s circuits.

I was racing against time, the sun dipping low, painting the sky in shades of lavender and rose as the sunset kissed the snowy peaks. The fading light was both my canvas and fierce rival, the vital element of my desire to capture the moment. My heart raced and I could feel the urgency buzzing through me, the worry that the perfect shot would elude me, that after coming so far, I would leave with nothing but the chill in my bones.

Then, a moment of stillness, as if the earth itself held it’s breath.  I pressed the shutter.  Time seemed to stretch on as the sound of the camera rang through my ears, breaking the silence of the snow filled landscape surrounding me.  I looked down at my camera and there it was, the perfect moment, immortalized in pixels and my memory.

The fear and doubt disappeared in an instant.  Every icy gust, every moment of uncertainty, was worth it for this single, perfect moment when time stood still.  It was more than just a photograph, it was a triumph over the elements, over disbelief and disappointment.  A dream realized and a moment of connection.  Proof that our struggles are not in vain!

Meet The Artist

I discovered my passion for capturing the wonders of creation at twelve, holding a pink camera under the sprawling branches of a black walnut tree. It was spring, and the air carried the heavy perfume of fruit blossoms. Before me stretched a field awash in purple wildflowers, their brilliance framed by clouds lazily drifting across an endless sky. Though recovering from illness, my soul stirred, urging me to preserve the moment. The click of the shutter felt like a vow: I would someday share the beauty of this world with everyone.

But life had its demands, and my dream grew quiet as I matured. At twenty-six, a degenerative nerve disease altered my course. With hands that betrayed me and my vision blurred, the lens seemed further from reach. The ache to create remained, yet my abilities became uncertain and my aspirations distant. I prayed, unsure if the desire to photograph was meant to stay or fade.

In 2019, the quiet ember reignited. With faith as my anchor, I enrolled in classes to master the art I once thought lost. The work was painstaking. My fingers trembled, my sight faltered, but each image I captured spoke of determination. Slowly, I rediscovered my rhythm, my purpose, and my joy.

By 2023, I had learned not only to take photographs but to share them. An online academy guided me in turning passion into livelihood. Hesitant, yet hopeful, I launched a small store, my art a reflection of my journey. That fall, my first sale arrived—a quiet affirmation.

Today, my photographs grace walls and hearts. Each frame whispers stories of resilience and grace, a reflection of a Creator’s hand in my life. Through my lens, I offer the world a glimpse of glory, one image at a time.
