Some bridges lead to places — this one led me to wonder.

The night was still. The bridge, silent. And then the sky opened.

I didn’t expect it — the colors, the glow, the quiet glory. The aurora unfolded above me like a living veil, soft and holy. Every color seemed to sing a different note of worship. And there I stood, camera in hand, heart undone.

I named this piece “The Light Beyond” because it reminded me that we often walk toward the unknown, unsure of what’s ahead. But when the light breaks through — even just for a moment — it reveals that God has been preparing something far greater than we imagined.

This image isn’t just about what’s seen. It’s about what waits beyond.

Have you ever chased a dream that felt as elusive as the stars?

That was me, standing under the indigo sky of Celebration Park in Melba, Idaho, camera in hand, heart pounding with the thrill and terror of capturing the Aurora Borealis on a warm spring night.

The journey to this moment wasn't easy. The park was alive with the rustle of leaves and the distant calls of night creatures, mingling with the soft whisper of the Snake River. The air was thick with the scent of sage and damp earth, a stark contrast to the cool metal of my camera. I was there to seize the moment that few have witnessed, let alone captured—the Northern Lights dancing far from their polar home.

The challenge was monumental. Long exposure astrophotography isn’t just about patience; it’s about precision under pressure. The settings had to be perfect: exposure, focus, timing. One wrong move and the shot could turn into a blurred memory. The lights could vanish before my eyes, leaving me with nothing but darkness and disappointment.

As the lights began to appear, a radiant dance of green and purple, my breath caught. I adjusted my tripod, my fingers clumsy with anticipation. Time seemed to stretch and compress, every second counting down to potential failure. What if I couldn’t do it? What if this once-in-a-lifetime spectacle slipped through my lens?

Then, it happened. The sky exploded in color, ribbons of light cascading over the steel bridge, turning it into a gateway to another world. I clicked the shutter, holding my breath, praying for a miracle.

When I finally checked the camera, the image was there—crisp, vibrant, alive. I had captured more than just light; I had captured a fleeting, radiant miracle. It was a profound reminder that in the pursuit of dreams, the journey is as mesmerizing as the destination.

Meet The Artist

I discovered my passion for capturing the wonders of creation at twelve, holding a pink camera under the sprawling branches of a black walnut tree. It was spring, and the air carried the heavy perfume of fruit blossoms. Before me stretched a field awash in purple wildflowers, their brilliance framed by clouds lazily drifting across an endless sky. Though recovering from illness, my soul stirred, urging me to preserve the moment. The click of the shutter felt like a vow: I would someday share the beauty of this world with everyone.

But life had its demands, and my dream grew quiet as I matured. At twenty-six, a degenerative nerve disease altered my course. With hands that betrayed me and my vision blurred, the lens seemed further from reach. The ache to create remained, yet my abilities became uncertain and my aspirations distant. I prayed, unsure if the desire to photograph was meant to stay or fade.

In 2019, the quiet ember reignited. With faith as my anchor, I enrolled in classes to master the art I once thought lost. The work was painstaking. My fingers trembled, my sight faltered, but each image I captured spoke of determination. Slowly, I rediscovered my rhythm, my purpose, and my joy.

By 2023, I had learned not only to take photographs but to share them. An online academy guided me in turning passion into livelihood. Hesitant, yet hopeful, I launched a small store, my art a reflection of my journey. That fall, my first sale arrived—a quiet affirmation.

Today, my photographs grace walls and hearts. Each frame whispers stories of resilience and grace, a reflection of a Creator’s hand in my life. Through my lens, I offer the world a glimpse of glory, one image at a time.
